William (Bill) Blaschke
BRISTOL - William (Bill) Blaschke, 71, of Bristol passed away unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Bristol Hospital. Bill was born in Bristol April 4, 1936, the son of Clara (Pendleton) Blaschke and the late Arthur (Red) Blaschke. A lifelong resident of the Bristol area, he graduated from Immanuel Lutheran grammar school and Bristol High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957. He was employed at The Bristol Press for several years and more recently at the Meriden Record Journal. He was a former member of the West End Athletic Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing tennis. Bill loved his grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Poppy Zeek" and enjoyed being with him. He will be sorely missed. Besides his mother, of Killingworth, he is survived by a sister, Beverly O'Connor of California; three sons and their wives, Bill and Dana Blaschke of Middlebury, Jeff and Debbie Blaschke of Killingworth and Greg and Jan Blaschke of Bristol. He also leaves his significant other, Maureen St. Onge and her family; eight grandchildren, Billy, Jennifer, Max, Zak, Ryan, Trevor, Gregory and Cheyenne Blaschke; and his adopted grandchildren, Lucas, Jennifer, Jodi, Melinda, Melissa, Brianna, Timothy and Kayla. He also leaves a nephew, Kyle O'Connor of California, and his ex-wife, Pauline Blaschke, of Bristol. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol. Funeral services will be held Friday, 10 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 154 Meadow St., Bristol, with the Rev. Steven Schumacher officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
