Walter E. Roman, 89 of 490 Stafford Ave., Bristol, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at Hilltop Health Center in Ansonia. He was the husband of the late Virginia H. (Ciarkowski) Roman. Walter was born in Terryville Oct. 27, 1918, the son of the late John and Mary Roman. He lived in the Bristol area his whole life and was a Veteran in WW II US Navy. He was a police officer for the City of Bristol and also worked in City Hall. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Eucharist Minister and the Golden Agers of the Church. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Past Commander of Polish Legion American Veterans, and Past President of Bristol Polish Club. He is survived by two daughters, Maryellen Swiatek of Beacon Falls and Patricia Uccello of Marlboro; a son, Donald Roman of Westerly, R.I.; 10 Grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Plus, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, George Roman. Funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol to St. Stanislaus Church for A Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow with military honors in St. Mary Cemetery Terryville. Friends may call at Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Donation can be made to St. Stanislaus Church 510 West St. Bristol, CT 06010.
