Viola A. Makowski
TORRINGTON - Viola A. Makowski, 95, formerly of Butler Street, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Litchfield Woods Convalescent Home.
She was born in Torrington on Feb. 7, 1914, the last child born to Alexander and Walda (Kramer) Makowski.
Viola was a resident of Torrington her entire life, where she retired from the Torrington Co. after 48 years of dedicated service. She was a lifelong member of the St. Mary's Church as well as the Women's Guild of the church. She also was a member of the Polish Dramatic Club.
She is survived by nieces Marcia and her husband John Czapor of Torrington and Jean A. Gioiele and her husband Domenic of Longs, S.C., nephews, Robert Copley and his wife Genevieve of Sun City West, Ariz., and Richard and his wife Janice Czarasty of Jensen Beach, Fla., and two godchildren, Debra Jean Dooley of Feeding Hills, Mass., and Peter Thompson of Torrington.
She is predeceased by three sisters, Martha Ficere, Irene Copley and Mary Czarasty and a niece Linda Thompson.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on July 28 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in Old St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington.
