Van Milton Cassidy
Van Milton Cassidy, 95, of Bristol, passed away Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at The Pines of Bristol. He was the widower of Hilda Frances (Taurinski) Cassidy. Van Milton was born in Ticonderoga, N.Y., Dec. 21, 1915, the son of the late Elwin and Sarah (McKee) Cassidy. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. He served his country in the Army during WWII. He received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with 6 Bronze Stars, Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart. American Defense Service Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. His battles and campaigns include, Normandy GO 102, WD, 45, N. France Go #103, WD, 45, Rhineland, Go # 118, WD, 45, Algeria-French Morocco, Go# 33, WD 45. Tuniis Go, #33, WD, 45, Sicilian GO# 33.
He is survived by Joseph and Brigitte Ayotte of Bristol. The funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at 9 a.m., from Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol to St. Joseph Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
