Solange (Grenier) Vaillancourt, 75, of Bristol, wife of the late Clairmond Vaillancourt, passed away peacefully at home March 21, 2025.
She was born on May 7, 1949 in Piopolis, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie-Anne (Chouinard) Grenier.
Solange was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She and her beloved husband of 39 years, Clairmond were married in August 1968. She is survived by Flore (and the late Robert Plante), Real Grenier, Florian and Jeannine Grenier, Rolande and Pierre Poulin, Lorraine and Jean-Denis Cloutier, Benoit Grenier (and the late Jeannine Morin) and many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by Jean-Luc Grenier (and the late Marie-Laure), Jerome Grenier (and the late Alice), Clemence (Gerard Lafontaine) and Henri-Louis Grenier (Cecil Lafontaine). She also has a beautiful in-law family including the late Gaetan Vaillancourt, Jean Claude Vaillancourt (Lise) and Jules Vaillancourt (Denise), Pierrette Grenier and many nieces and nephews.
Solange was a selfless volunteer in her community delivering Meals on Wheels and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She ran her own business and did the record-keeping for her husband’s business for many decades.
Solange was the loving mother of Julie and her husband Kurt Erwin of Harwinton, Annie and her husband Kevin Harris of Bristol. She was the grandmother to Carter and Cooper Harris and Violet Kriscenski. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She baked with them, built multiple school projects and attended their school and sporting events with unwavering support.
She loved hosting her friends at home playing cards or just having a good conversation over a cup of coffee. To know her was to love her. With her angelic character and loving support, she was a blessing to all her friends and a beautiful soul.
Her legacy will be her firm belief in our Creator and all that he brings to our lives. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends who were all fortunate to know her.
Memorial service will be held on Friday at 1:30 PM at the Holy Family Chapel Mausoleum in St. Joseph Cemetery 522 Terryville Ave. Bristol, CT 06010. Friends may call at the Chapel from 11:30 until the time of the service. Dunn Funeral Home 191 West St. Bristol coordinates the arrangements.
