Sister Mary Ellen St. John, formerly of Bristol, passed away in Belleview, Fla., Oct. 4, 2010. Sister Mary Ellen graduated from Bristol Central High School then entered the Doninican Cloistered Nuns of Our Lady of Grace in North Guilford. She spent 24 years daily hours of Adoration, Rosaries prayer and penance as a Cloistered nun. She is survived by a sister, Betty Jean and her husband, Andrew "Jay" Laviero, of Bristol; a brother in-law, Richard Peters of Arizona; her best friend, Dorothy Garrow and her daughter, Marla; and Nathan Franco as well as many other great friends in Silver Oaks of Belleview, Fla; plus several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Armand and Pauline St. John and her sister, Barbara Peters. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol, was in charge of the arrangements. Donations can be made in her memory to Our Lady of Grace Monastery, 11 Race Hill Road., North Guilford, CT. 06437.
