After a brief illness, Robert (Bob) Martin of Bristol, passed away on Feb. 1, 2015, and is in Godâs eternal rest.
He was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Baker Lake, New Brunswick, Canada, son of Solime and Marguerite (Pelletier) Martin.
He was a devoted family man and friend. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Marie-Rose (Gaudreau) Martin; his five children, James and his wife, Margo, of Clermont, Fla., Gary and his wife, Ghislaine, of Bristol, David of Lomita, Calif., Louise Fournier and her husband, Clayton, of Eagle Lake and Daniel and his wife, Jennifer, of Bristol.
He is survived by his brothers, Roland of Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, Benoit of Arizona and Gerald of Trenton, Ontario, Canada.
He was predeceased by his brother, Leo of Canada; Germaine Cote, Jeannine Landry, Cecile Boutot of Canada and Evelyn Bouchard of Connecticut.
He was especially proud of his 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
He worked hard his entire life to provide for his family. In his retirement years he enjoyed painting and spending time with his family and friends. He was a generous soul who liked to help others and made friends wherever he went. Bob was an active member of Hillside Community Church in Bristol and helped in various ministries.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service celebrating his life on Friday, Feb. 6, at 6 p.m., Hillside Community Church, 435 Broad St., Bristol.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that check donations be made to Hillside Community Church. These donations will help support the Revolution Teen Ministry.
Private burial arrangements will take place at a later date.
