Richard L. Usher Sr., 81, of Bristol, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 14, at Ingraham Manor Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Mary Jane (Taylor) Usher.
Richard was born in Bristol on Jan. 15, 1933, a son of the late Helen (Gorman) Usher and Olin Usher.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class in the Korean War. Richard Worked at New Departure for several years before he retired in 1995.
He was an avid bingo player and Boston Red Sox, New York Giants and UConn fan.
Richard is survived by, his son, Richard L. Usher Jr.; and a step-son, Thomas McCarron; a step-daughter, Sue Ann Wood; two brothers, Jim and Ronald; three sisters, Grace, Hazel and Carol; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; plus many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Olin Jr., Donald, Robert, Edna, Helen, Joan and Linda.
Memorial Service at Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 19.
Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m., until time of the service.
