Mrs. Genevieve (Palubniak) Wessels, 87, of 64 Lawndale Ave., Bristol passed away on Friday, (March 13, 2009) at the Bristol Hospital. She was the widow of Ralph E. Wessels. She was born on June 4, 1921 in South Canaan, PA the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Palachach) Palubniak. Genevieve was employed at the Bristol Girls Club for 25 years as a cooking and sewing instructor, and a secretary, where she instructed many of the area children in the domestic arts. She retired in 1986. She was a life long Red Sox fan and friends to several of the players. She is survived by, a son Bruce A. Wessels of Bristol, and a step son Robert H. Wessels of Waverly, TN, a daughter Susan M. Haynes of Norwalk, OH, and a step daughter Orla M. McPhee of Bristol, 20 grandchildren including Ian A. Wessels to whom she was especially devoted to and felt as close to as a son and he felt as close to her as a mother, plus several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two step sons, Ralph E. Wessels Jr. and Richard A. Wessels, and a step daughter, Jean Hockrider. She was most fond of her nieces, Sonie Zoka and Martha Dragon and her constant friend for 56 years Irene DeCarolis. Rest peacefully dear sweet Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. We all love you and miss you. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 35 Allen St. Terryville.
