Mr. Roger J. Albert
Mr. Roger J. Albert, 82, of Bristol, passed away peacefully at New Britain General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday (April 3, 2008). He was the beloved husband of Therese (Lessard) Albert for 57 years. Roger was born in Stockholm, ME on June 10, 1925, the son of the late Emile and Anastasia (Tardif) Albert. He was a longtime resident of Bristol and a member of St. Matthew Church. He was a World War II Combat Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He served in the 575th Anti Aircraft Artillery Battalion, A Company, 11th Armored Division "Thunderbolt", assigned to the 3rd Army under George S. Patton during the Battle of the Bulge. He was employed by B.W. Brown Trucking Company for over 41 years, and retired in 1987. He was a member of Franco American War Veterans Post 26, St. Jean Baptist French Club, and Model French Club. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and is survived by seven children and their spouses, James and Sharon Albert of Coventry, Patricia (Albert) and Dennis Orticari of Southington, Steven and Kathleen Albert of Northfield, NH, Brian and Leslie Albert of Bristol, Mark and Julie Albert of New Hartford, John and Lori Albert of Bay Village, OH, and Paul and Michele Albert of Bristol; two brothers, Gilbert Albert of Waterbury and Clifford Albert of Sinclair, ME; three sisters, Terry Mirmina of Plainville, Georgette Alfano of Amston, and Carlene Dube of Windsor Locks; three grandchildren, Patrick Cistulli, Michael Orticari, and Christen Orticari; several nieces and nephews. Military funeral will be held on Monday, at 9 a.m. from Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol, to St. Matthew Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow with Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
