Mr. George (Gus) W. Schur
Bristol, Mr. George (Gus) W. Schur, 81, of Bristol, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2006, surrounded by his loving family and friends at St. Francis Hospital, he was the devoted husband of Concetta (Gurgigno) Schur.
He was born in Bristol on November 25, 1924 the son of the late Gustav and Helene (Panke) Schur. He attended local schools He was a resident of Bristol his whole life and was a veteran in World War. He was proud and honored to serve in the U.S. Army on the transport shop Moratania during World War II. In 1952 he married his ?lubba? Connie. Gus worked as a department supervisor for Wasley Products in Plainville for 30 years before he retired in 1986. He was an avid bowler for many years and an accomplished, lifelong golfer. He was a die-hard fan o f UCONN men's Basketball and his Boston Red Sox. He had a great mind and good heart. Family and friends were treated to many of his home Cooked, delicious meals for many years. His devotion to his wife and daughter was never ending. His family and friends were blessed to have known such an honorable man. George was a member of St. Anthony Church.
Besides his wife he is survived by his adoring daughter Debra, his brother Richard and his wife Judith of New Hampshire, his brother-in-law Carl Albritton of Florida, cousins in CT and MA and many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews whom he enjoyed spending time with. He was predeceased by a sister Trudy Albritton.
Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 am from Dunn Funeral Home 191 West St. Bristol to St. Anthony Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 - 8 PM.
