Michael W. Positano
BRISTOL - Michael W. Positano, 88, husband of Theresa (Iammatteo) Positano, formerly of Stafford Avenue, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at Ingraham Manor. He was born in Bristol, May 8, 1919, son of the late Carlo and Julia (Palmisano) Positano. Mr. Positano was employed at the Bristol Board of Education for many years, retiring in 1982. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater on the USS Twiggs. He was a member of St. Anthony Church. He is survived by his son, Michael A. Positano and his wife, Vivian, of Bristol; two daughters, Linda and her husband, Al Crochetiere, of Bristol and Nancy Holmes and her fiancAC., Jay Phoenix, of Bristol; a sister, Catherine Devoti of Bristol; one granddaughter, Jill and her husband, Mark Lawlor of Woodbury; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Garrett Lawlor. also of Woodbury; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Vito and Dominic Positano, and three sisters, Mary Positano, Rose Ventrella and Angelina Verrone. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 9 a.m. from Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol, to St. Anthony Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
