Lydia E. Gillette, 84, of Harmony Hill Rd., Harwinton, CT pass away August 4, 2004 at Lawerence & Memorial Hospital, New London. She was the wife of George F. Gillette.
Lydia was born on April 1, 1920, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of the late Emil and Emma (Sonstrom) Woike.
She lived in Harwinton, CT for the past 38 years.She owned and operated the North End Store in Barkhamsted from 1966 to 2002. She was the treasurer of the Torrington VFW Auxiliary, and assisted in the office at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Torrington where she was a member of the choir and sewing group at the church.
Lydia enjoyed sewing, crafts and crosswords puzzles.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, G. Herbert Gillette of Columbia, Maryland, a daughter, Susan G. Janovic of East Lyme; two brothers, George Woike of Harwinton and Leonard Woike of Pickens, South Carolina; a sister, Eleanor Woike of Harwinton, 4 grandchildren, Kimberly Gillette of Hadley, MA, Lisa Gillette of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Todd Gillette of Alexandria, Virginia and Melissa Janovic of East Lyme. 3 Great gandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by two sisters, Alma Ruth Mahoney and Helana Cousey, and three brothers, Herbert Woike, Alfred Woike and Paul Woike.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 Am from the Dunn Funeral Home 191 West ST. Bristol. Burial will follow in West Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday for 9:00 Am until time of service.
