Joseph A. DiGrappa
Joseph A. DiGrappa, 91, of Bristol died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Ingraham Manor. He was married for 38 years to Gloria V. "Dolly" (Huhn) DiGrappa, who passed away Dec. 6 last year. Joe was born in Maynard, Mass., on Aug. 11, 1919, son of the late Luigi and Maria (Perrotta) DiGrappa and was raised by his loving stepmother Concetta (Campanelli) DiGrappa. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at Pratt & Whitney in Southington for 32 years before he retired in 1985. He was a member of St. Anthony Church, and was a life member of BPOE No. 1010 and DAV Chapter No. 5, American Legion Post No. 2, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9929 and Sons of Italy and the Eagles. He is survived by two step-daughters, Oria-Aun Rushing of Metairie, La., and Ellan-Aun Rushing of Slidell, La.; three brothers, Gerald, Tino and Frank DiGrappa; two sisters, Yolanda Ferzoco and Silvia Hodge; five grandchildren, Robert L. Babin, III, Jeremy J. Himel, Melanie B. Jarrell, Jonathan R. Himel and Mary E. Dardeau; plus five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a stepson, Willis A. Rushing Jr., and a sister, Maria Ganong. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at 9 a.m., at Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol to St. Anthony Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
