Joseph DeFillippi, Sr.
Joseph DeFillippi, Sr., 91, of Bristol passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Sheriden Woods Convalescent Home. He was the widower of Catherine (Duncan) DeFillippi.
He was born October 10,1921 in Bristol, CT, the son of the late Alexander and Josephine (DeMarzio) DeFillippi.
Joseph was a veteran in WW II serving in the United States Army. He worked at Superior Electric Company for over 30 years before he retired and worked part time for the Bristol School System. He was a member of American Legion Billy Peterson Post 165
In Wolcott and was a member of St. Anthony Church.
He is survived by a son, Joseph DeFillippi Jr., of Bristol; two daughters, Joanne Deegan and her husband, Gary, of East Haddam and Sharon DeFillippi of Bristol; two brothers, Alphonse and Frank DeFillippi and two sisters, Miculatina "Mickie" Smyrski and Viola DeSepio plus a brother-in-law Joseph Sarno and a sister-in-law Joyce Defillippi, six grandchildren, Katherine and Andrew Deegan, Sara and Joey DeFillippi and Matthew and Emily McKenzie and a special friend Judy Sweeney.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Pat, Louis, Donald and Alexander DeFillippi and a sister, Virginia Sarno.
The Family would like to thank Sheriden Woods for all the care given to Joseph for the past year.
Graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 11:30 am at St. Joseph Cemetery (North Side) 522 Terryville Ave. Bristol, CT. In lieu of Flowers donations can be made to The Boys & Girls Club Family Center Building Fund, In Memory of Joseph DeFillippi, Sr. C/O Michael Suchopar 105 Laurel St. Bristol, CT 06010
