Jacob Jack Topalian, 78, of 66 Emmett St., Bristol passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Bristol Hospital. He was the husband of Elizabeth "Betty" (Van Patten) Topalian. Jacob was born July 2, 1932, in New Britain, the son of the late George and Marion (Sachaklin) Topalian. He worked for many years at American Construction Co. in Hartford and retired from Superior Electric (Dana Corporation) in 1997. Besides his wife he was a loving father to his son, Leonard Van Patten; and two daughters and son in-laws, Donna and Ernest Szydlo Jr., Susan and Norman Foote Jr., all of Bristol; three grandchildren, Joshua Foote, Ernest Szydlo III and Desiree Szydlo, all of Bristol. He was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Topalian; a brother, George Topalian; and a step- granddaughter, Erin Szydlo-Royer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 11 a.m., at Asbury United Methodist Church, 90 Church Ave., Forestville, CT 06010. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
