Bristol, Mr. Howard L. Behrendt, 81, of Bristol, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Bristol Hospital.

Howard was born in Bristol on May 31, 1929 the son of the late Julius and Wanda (Drachenberg) Behrendt.

He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and Bristol High School. He received his B.S. degree from Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, ILL. And his Masters from the University of Hartford and continued with a six years Certificate from the University of Hartford.

He retired in 1991 from Capital School District in Dover, Delaware after 20 years as a School Counselor. Also served as psych and sociology instructor for a 10 year period in the evening Division at Delaware Technical and Community College in Dover.

Since moving back to Bristol in 1991 he was a member of Forestville Fishing Club a long time secretary and historian of the club. Active at Immanuel Lutheran Church with archives coordinator, founded school Alumni Assoc. Secretary of Board of Christian education, member of the church adult fellowship and Senior Saints organizations. National Evangelical Lutheran Conference and former secretary of the New England Chapter . Bristol Historical Society.

He is survived by three nephews, Richard Behrendt of New Haven, Thomas Behrendt of Norton, Mass. And James Behrendt of Lyme, CT a sister in-law Theresa Behrendt of Uncasville and many friends.
He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Robert J., Arthur L. and Alfred C. Behrendt

Friends may call at Immanuel Lutheran Church 154 Meadow St. Bristol, CT on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in West Cemetery. Dunn Funeral Home 191 West St. Bristol, is in charge of the arrangements.
