Gerald Paul Mel, 65, of Bristol, died Tuesday, February, 16, 2016. Born in New Britain, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Chesanek) Mel. An extremely loving father that would do anything for you, he enjoyed partying and socializing with family and friends. Jerry to his friends and family, he worked as a tool maker throughout Bristol and Farmington after serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. A motorcycle enthusiast that was also a bit of a mechanic, he loved music, and playing guitar in a band. He was also a kind and generous man that collected Sci – Fi movies and was a HAM radio operator. Jerry is survived by his son, Jeremy, for whom his world revolved. His brother, Joseph and sister in law, Ingrid, a niece, two nephews and six grand nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Memorial Program, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
