George H. Eschner
George H. Eschner, 90, of 57 Lois St., Bristol, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012, in Old Saybrook. He was the widower Jeannette (Alexander) Eschner.
George was born in Bristol Sept. 8, 1921, the son of the late Fred William and Louise (Novatki) Eschner.
He lived in Bristol his whole life and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. George was on the USS Bandera and received a Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal and Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal.
He worked at A.G. Russel for 23 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a lifetime member of Bristol Fish and Game and a former member of Italian Social Club. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He is survived by two sons, Gary Eschner of Bristol and Bruce Eschner of Clinton; a daughter, Linda Moreau of Deerfield, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Eschner of Bristol; a sister, Edith Cook of Waterloo, S.C.; three grandchildren, Lana, Bruce Jr. and Jeannette; and two great-grandchildren, Eric and Chad.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 154 Meadow St., Bristol. Friends may call at Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol, Thursday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
