Francesca 'Frances'(Urso) Mercieri,95, widow of Antonio Mercieri, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Frances was born Oct. 25, 1914, in Astoria, N.Y., to Nicola and Anna Urso. She is survived by her son, Joseph Mercieri and his wife, Cindy; her daughter, Rose Ann Chatfield and her husband, Robert, with whom she made her home; her three grandchildren, Andrew Chatfield and his wife, Joanne, Amy Chatfield and Daryl Hultman and his wife, Joanna; her brother, Benjamin Urso and his wife, Nancy; her sisters-in law, Philomena Anastasi and Millie Mercieri; and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank Urso, and her sisters, Rose Lacolla and Claira Benedetto. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol, to St. Anthony Church, Bristol, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., and will be celebrated by her nephew the Rev. Fr. Dennis Mercieri. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours will be Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Special thanks to the family, friends and neighbors, who visited Frances faithfully when she was housebound.
