Edith Rao
Edith (Ida) Rose Rao, 88, died peacefully at Ingraham Manor in Bristol Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, a day before she would have celebrated her 89th birthday. She was a gracious, caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be sorely missed. She was born in Bristol in 1922 to Maria and Vincenzo Pennito and remained in Bristol throughout her entire life.
She married John J. Rao Jr., who predeceased her in 2004. Edith is survived by her children, Dolores Carson and daughter, April Carson, John Rao III and his wife, Patricia Corcoran, and their daughter, Grace Rao and James Rao and his wife, Ritsuko. She also leaves her brother, Jack Pennito and his wife, Joan; her brother, Jimmy Pennito and his wife, Rose; her sister, Lucy Lalonde; and many loving nieces, nephews and countless beloved friends.
Edith was a remarkable and loving woman who was someone many could identify with and possessed a quiet strength. She always saw the glass as half full. She had a big heart and was an amazing cook. At the end of her life, she was provided with loving care by her friends and the medical team at Ingraham Manor. Special thanks to Dr. Nadeem Behjet and Edith's close friends, Ellen and Justina Dubinsky.
Funeral services were held at St. Anthony Church in Bristol, Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, in a private ceremony. Dunn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. www.Dunnfh.com.
