Charles A. (Chick) Guarino
Mr. Charles A. Guarino,90,of 164 Gridley St., Bristol, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 28, 2005. He was the widower of Henrietta (Imperator) Guarino.
He was born in Middletown, CT on March 21, 1915, the son of the late Gino Guarino and Emelia Guarino Nobile.
Those of us who were lucky enough to have known him were embraced by his generosity and sense of humor. He is already greatly missed by all. Mr. Guarino was a longtime resident of Bristol and a member of Unico Club and St. Anthony Church. He was an avid poker player and a Red Sox and Uconn Basketball fan. Chick and Henrietta loved there Madison beach house, where they welcomed their family and friends for many years.
He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army Air Cops. Chick was employed by General Electric in Plainville as a Data Processor Operator for 23 years before he retired in 1981.
He is survived by a daughter, Carol McFadden and her husband, Denny of Forestville; a son, Joseph C. Guarino and his wife, Erin, of West Hartford; a brother, Vincent J. Guarino, and a sister, Rose Formica, both of Middletown; four grandchildren, whom he loved to play with and tease, Jennifer and her husband, Jason, Joey, Elizabeth and Kathryn; several Nieces and Nephews; and a special family friend, Urszula.
Chick was pre-deceased by two brothers, Louis J. and Albert Guarino; and a sister, Nancy Maggiore.
Military funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 am from Dunn Funeral Home 191 West St. Bristol to St. Anthony Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 a" 8 PM.
