Aubrey (Mac) L. McGray, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was the beloved husband for 62 years of Janette (Dalanek) McGray. Born in Presque Isle, Maine on January 5, 1935, Aubrey was the son of the late Burton Louis and Letha P. (Rancourt) McGray. Aubrey was employed at New Departure, Hyatt Division of General Motors, for many years before his retirement. Aubrey enjoyed spending his free time with friends and family at the horse and dog racetracks. However, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren. Throughout the years, Aubrey was an important part of their lives. He was constantly taking them fishing, attending their sporting events and enjoyed their Saturday morning ritual of "can picking" followed by lunch and ice cream. Most recently, his great grandchildren (Parker McGray, Nathan, Olivia and Emilia Coleman, Maci Smith and Caden Tampellini) became his latest pride and joy. Besides his wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Lance McGray and his wife, Terri of Harwinton, and Leslie Smith and her husband, Kevin of Bristol. Besides his children, Aubrey is also survived by his two sisters, Margaret Bodamer and Carol Gorneault. Aubrey is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Lance McGray Jr., and his wife Sarah, Joshua Coleman and his wife Sharon, Jacob Coleman, Megan (McGray) Daigle and her husband Keith, Kevin Smith and his wife Renae, and Heather (Smith) Tampellini and her husband Justin. Aubrey also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. A special thanks goes to the medical staff at St. Francis Hospital for their support and care of Aubrey and our family. Service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Dunn Funeral Home 191 West St. Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM.
